ACHIEVEMENTS

The school has appeared on both ITV and the BBC. Many of our pupils have appeared in amateur and professional pantomime and musicals at Sunderland Empire, Theatre Royal, Tyne Theatre, Playhouse and the Peoples Theatre, and also in film. The list of shows include; Royal Shakespeare company productions, Our pupils and past pupils have also appeared on London’s West End stage in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, Chicago and "The Fifteen Streets Other productions include "Blitz", "Wizard of Oz", ", "Annie", "Matilda", The Silver Chair", "Aladdin", "Babes in the Wood", "Dick Whittington". Our past pupils have also taken leading roles in the BBC's "East Enders", "Byker Grove", "Touching Evil", "Peak Practice", "Coronation Street" and Catherine Cookson TV productions. Several of our teachers and student teachers have appeared at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena and on Metro Radio Road Shows at the Stadium of Light and other venues.

Current pupils have starred in the new BBC childrens game show "Stake Out". Amy Duggan a former pupil is playing Debbie in "Billy Elliott" in the West end. Paul Iverson a former pupil is understudying Billy Flynn in "Chicago". Michelle Heaton is playing Cinderella at Sunderland Empire and pupil Hollie Murray is dancing in the panto.

Sandra and her staff attend many lectures and courses to keep up with the new ideas and ensure that the high standards are maintained. The children are encouraged to participate in the courses when possible to improve the breadth of their understanding of dance forms.

However, the school should be informed when a pupil wishes to attend an outside course; audition or Summer School as the pupil’s training may be affected. No pupil may attend another dance/drama school without prior permission.
